Oklahoma Winter Quilt Show 2010
We had a great time meeting and visiting with people at the Oklahoma Winter Quilt Show last weekend in OKC.
Unfortunately we couldn’t predict the response we had to some of our patterns so we ran out by the second day. So if you are interested in the “Owls on a Limb” pattern or the “Charisma Boots” please contact me and I will get that for you asap!
Did you all enjoy the show? I would love to hear what you thought of it, not just our booth, but the whole show in general.
Fabric Winner!!!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the give away. It looks like quilting techniques and zippers are the main things people are wanting to learn. We will work on getting some tutorials together on some of the topics mentioned and hopefully be able to post the first one in the early spring!
Anyway, to get to what you all are really looking for… the winner! (Even if you didn’t win keep reading though because there is more to it!)
Drum roll please….
Kelly Reid answers were:
What do you want to learn this year? I want to learn to make landscape quilts…they fascinate me!
What skills would you like to perfect? I would like to improve my quilting skills…all of them. I also want to improve my embroidery stitches.
What projects do you have in mind for completing this year? A queen sized UFO that needs to be quilted and bound, a fishy applique quilt, waiting to be stitched, quilts for each of my grandchildren.
Thank you Kelly. I will get your fabric in the mail this afternoon. I hope you love them!
Now for everyone else… If you participated in this blog then you will receive 30% off any of the Lamour line of fabric that you would like to purchase from our Etsy shop. Send me a convo on Etsy letting me know how much you would like and I will set up a custom listing for you. (We have yardage available.) If you have any questions email sewflakesquilts@yahoo.com
**Edit: The 30% offer is only good for the people who participated. If you didn’t participate in the last blog but would like the fabric you will receive a 15% discount if you send me an Etsy convo letting me know you read this blog. Both offers expire January 17th.**
Good Luck with your resolutions. We hope you will keep in contact with your progress.

This year our resolution is to offer more classes and workshops in our store. Our online goal is to make tutorials and patterns available for our website and blog visitors. In order for us to do this we would like to know what some of your goals for 2010 are.

You have until Sunday, January 10th at 11:59p.m. to get your entries in. Good luck!
New Groups for 2010
We have several new things going on this year! Here are just a few examples:
PMS (Personal Monthly Sewing, formerly known as “Cotton Theory”)
On the second Wednesday of every month, at 10:30, we’ll meet for “Personal Monthly Sewing”. For 2010, we’re going to do a Dragonfly quilt. You’ll purchase the fabric the first month and every month after that you’ll get part of the pattern and a less for $15 per month. The picture of the quilt is below, and we have picked the perfect fabrics! Call to reserve your space, as it’s limited.
Reproducing with Betty!
This club will focus on Reproduction fabrics from the 1800’s. You’ll make a different block every month, and your fabrics will be included in the $20 fee. See inside the schedule for more information.
SewFlakes QBS (Quilt Block Swappers)
This group operates online via email and Facebook. Each month everyone involved is sent a list of 3-4 people which they send blocks to and get blocks from. If you would like to participate in this block swap check out the SewFlakes QBS blog (you will see the guidelines there along with instructions on how to join group). If you have any questions contact Trina.
A Bunny for All Seasons
Greta McGregor’s latest creation means a new block of the month for us to participate in! Each month’s block will feature a bunny in a different scene representing that month. Pictured is a preview of January’s block! Come sign up to mark you spot!
If you have any suggestions for groups or classes you would like to see offered please comment below or send an email. I would love to hear all of your ideas!
Under a Spell!
Have you seen the Spellbound line from Art Gallery? Talk about a fantastically mesmerizing group!
You can order some for yourself in our Etsy shop. We will be sure to send you the free quilt pattern that goes along with this enchanting line!
New Ribbons!
As the youngest person here at SewFlakes, I have to admit, I love it when something I suggest to be ordered comes in! (Oh my dear Hope Valley please come to us quickly! I don’t think I can stand the anticipation much longer!)
Anyway, imagine my surprise to come in this morning and see the ribbon we ordered from our Free Spirit and Michael Miller rep! It is so charming!
Here in the shop we have a rule: Employees can not purchase new items until they have been in the shop for at least two weeks. Well, all I can say is that I have 13 1/2 days to go!
Go ahead to our Etsy shop to check out the details for yourself.
***Edit*** I can’t take credit for ordering the peacock eye ribbon or the mod flowers, but I so definitely ordered the cupcakes and the camper fabric. Also on Etsy is the pink owl ribbon!
